I think that approaching the guitar is a bit more mysterious and difficult in the beginning than the drums. Whereas it's relatively easy to learn a drum beat at the first lesson, it's unlikely that most people will be pounding out a few chords until after at least a few sessions and some serious practice.

As with the drums there are many styles and techniques to discover on the guitar as well. I prefer to find out where a student's interests and strengths lie, and focus on getting to a result sooner rather than later.
